Collaborating to Create a World Class Destination – Join Us!

Discussion

3/29/12:  We have invested considerable network focus on creating solid inventories of work and research already underway in each of our three focus areas:  research, training, and product development.  We are now moving into action mode, and are considering the development of some top quality Northern Forest itineraries to help visitors plan and undertake truly regional experiences.

What do you think of the idea of regional itineraries?  Would you like to be involved?

11/17/10:  We are 6 months out from the May 2011 Northern Forest Summit.  With that date as a target, we are focused on gathering some very specific information to guide our priority action area work.

Developing an inventory of tourism training, Northern Forest research, and regional tourism products is a key part of the work that we need to do in the next 6 months.  We will be launching a web survey to solicit input, but please weigh in now with any specifics you would like to share, or more general shaping questions.

9/14/10:  Summer is a busy season in the Northern Forest for tourism practitioners.  Our current newsletter edition is a collection of stories and examinations of what’s happening, what’s working, what’s emerging.

Do you have a success story from the summer that others could learn from?

2/2/10:  Our current question both picks up on themes in the Feb 2 newsletter, and tills the soil for our March 11 gathering – please chime in!

Our current newsletter explores different collaborative approaches, in the context of an overall network that is based on the hypothesis that through collaboration we can create better outcomes.  What are your thoughts about this?  Do you have a success or challenge to share?

1/8/10:  Our question as we plan for the March 11 gathering is:

What would make this gathering of the network most productive for you, and most valuable for our regional work?

Please add your comments and questions – they will help shape the gathering!

12/1/09:  Our discussion question for the current e-newsletter is:

What do you consider to be the best strategies for increasing livable-wage jobs in the tourism sector?

Please add your comments and further questions.  Let the dialogue and learning begin…and continue!
